The story behind the poster on my truck

If you are reading this, you probably got the address off the back of my truck.  For those who stopped and talked to me, I thank you for listening and understanding just how big this problem is.  One person was balancing the buying of a vehicle between Ford and Toyota.  Both have had problems but she decided to go to Toyota as they were more upfront about issues and fixed what they considered to be a manufacturing defect.  They don’t seem to be as selective and secretive as Ford.

Why the poster on the back of the truck?

The short story.

I bought my second F150 in 2002 based on how my first worked out, under lease.

What I didn’t know was that Ford was aware of an issue when they sold me the truck but said nothing.  It seems that some of the front windows in the F150 and other vehicles were put in wrong and they would leak – often after warranty.  This water leak would eventually cause the electronics to fry.  We’re talking thousands of dollars of damage.  Ford could have at least warned us and thus saved us money.  When notified, after all the damage and not officially by Ford, I had the window remounted – not replaced, but remounted.  Voila – no more damage.

Ford was notified and basically told me to take a walk.  Seems some HIGH BONUS EXECUTIVE MADE THE DECISION. Guess while all the other companies did recalls, Ford made their money by not recalling.

And I’m not the only one.  If you read some of my blog, you will see that others suffered.  If you want to know about more, use www.mycarstats.com.  On the right side, enter Ford, F150, 2002.  If you want to see the larger picture, just use different years.

There are  were 4 major problems with the F150 at least – leaky front window, leaky rear window, blowing spark plugs and falling gas tanks (there has been a recall on this one item – if you were lucky to get one before the tank fell off).  Take your pick.  Three  Two of them have the potential of causing death and/or injury but Ford really doesn’t care.

I appreciate you stopping by and for those who talked to me – thanks for taking the time.

I should note that the Toronto Star has been aware of this problem for over a year and has not acted upon the information.  Seems that big advertisers get not investigations by the paper.  Moral of the story – if you want a newspaper to ignore you, put in advertising.  Just like a payoff or insurance.

FORD SUCKS

  3. Hello there I seen your posting this afternoon while i was driving . I seen lots of other drivers interest on it. Myself I think its great that u are letting people know the issues with these trucks. We have had 3 f150s now with 5.4 i used to think these motors were great . We do lots of driving . All 3 trucks have had the motors replaced transfer cases and trannies . Which cost a extrem value and these trucks are not easy to put motors in . Also the electrical is extremly bad and the cruise control on the 99 has almost got me kill twice . The pedal will go to the floor board after turning it on the odd time and wont stop unless u turn the truck off . I used to be a huge ford fan but in the last few weeks now im really turned from them . Your sticker today really made me think it also made me laugh . Anyway thank you for taking the time i am wrighting this on a quick work break . Soory for any spelling errors . If u would like to know more problems plz let me know thanks Justin .

  4. Appreciate your comments Justin. Hard part of all this is that we know all vehicles have some kind of problem within their lifespan but when companies like Ford ignore these issues, it shows they really don’t care about the customer, no matter what the ads state. Bullshit tries to baffle brains but, I think we all know that if they spent the money on repairs instead of ads, the customer base would be a hell of a lot more satisfied. Other problems faced by the infamous F150 are the blowing spark plugs – if not taken out properly, you will have an issue. Not like the old days where I could just unscrew a plug and put another in. Also, seems the rear windows are leaking. All documented issues and not just a few. Ford makes it money by not doing recalls and depends on us coming back. At least Toyota owned up to their issues.

  5. Dude, you re bitching about your 11 years old truck that is 6 years past the warranty? Really? And you re making connections between that and WWII? Get your head checked man

    • I appreciate you taking the time to comment. Yes, the truck is 11 years old and a lot of money has kept it on the road. Most repairs are normal wear and tear, so no issue there. My issue is they built the truck (and a lot more like it with the same issue) and it was their workmanship that caused the issue of water leaking into the cab and frying the electronics. So, not really a warranty issue – it was built that way. Regarding WWII – I just find it interesting how Ford tells it is so american and it turns out Henry Ford was a friend of Hitler and anti-semitic and his company sued for damages to their German factories that were bombed during WWII. Kind of shows their mindset and how they look after No. 1 – not the customer but themselves. I, like others, just hate being taken for suckers. Buy the truck and suck it up if it is Ford’s fault the truck leaks, so to speak.
Again, appreciate the comment though – glad someone is reading the material.

For the lawyers – if you ever find something wrong or not true – let me know and I’ll make any appropriate changes. Unlike Ford, I like to ensure my blog only states the truth.

P.S. would be interesting to see the file they have on me now. A phone call regarding a request to call them ended up producing some interesting results – showed a kind of attitude one would expect from one of Hitler’s buddies. 🙂
